Clubhouse Is Now Available For Android Devices. What Does That Mean?

The Clubhouse App has finally been released to the public for Android devices. The Clubhouse app for Android is available on the Google Play Store in the following regions: UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

It was added to the USA Android market on Sunday more than a year after it’s initial launch on iOS.

While announcing the launch, Clubhouse mentioned that the release in the US will precede English-speaking countries and later the other regions of the earth.

Clubhouse stated,
Today, we are thrilled to share that Clubhouse for Android will start rolling out in beta immediately. We will begin gradually, with the U.S. today, followed by other English-speaking countries and then the rest of the world. Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly. If you are an Android user, you can download Clubhouse for Android and sign up now to be alerted once it’s available in your area, and read the FAQ here.

Therefore, Just like its iOS predecessor, it will be rolled-out in stages and be invite only.

This introduction to the Android platform is at a critical nexus for the company for two reasons. Firstly, other tech companies are currently either in beta-stages of their own audio app or are developing it. Fascinatingly the Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and Telegram versions of the app are similar in user experience and functionality.

Secondly, the Android version of the Clubhouse app comes around the time that its downloads have started to plummet drastically from its January 2021 peak.

According to Sensor Tower, downloads of the Clubhouse app dropped from a peak of 9.6 million in February to 922,000 in April.
